Q: choosing a category and subcategory

Before you read this, I want to say I have a brain injury from a car accident. I struggle with memory issues and get confused easily. So please be kind :-)

When choosing the categories your show will be listed in, I see there are 16 categories to choose from.

When I click on a podcast in iTunes, (Like Real Crime Profile for example) I see that there are subcategories the show is listed under.

So for example, Real Crime Profile is listed like this -- Society & Culture > History > Real Crime

So obviously Society & Culture is the main category, History is a sub-category, and Real Crime is another sub-category.

I was looking at my show's page in iTunes and that third category is my name and what I have listed with my name. Is there some way for me to change my categories / sub-category(ies)?

Thanks.

The last entry on the line - in the case you quote, 'Real Crime Profile' - isn't a sub-category but the Author's name. In that particular case they have made the author's name the same as the title, but usually this isn't the case. You can only have one sub-category: I gather you've found Apple's list of categories. You can have a second category, with its sub-category, but it won't show in the Store (and searching on a category is most unlikely to bring up your podcast as you are competing with thousands). In the case of your own podcast what you describe is what one expects to see and you can't change that (other than by changing your name as Author).
