Bootscreen shows two windows installations

Trial and error trying to install windows 10 via Bootcamp in my 2008 MacPro (3,1) has caused two windows installations to appear when I press Alt/Option on Bootup. Neither of them work. I El Capistan SSD Hard Drive is mounted on an Apricorn Velocity X2 Card with another SSD card connected to it, and I have four data drives in my 4 drive bays.

How do I remove the two Windows Installations from appearing ? So far I mount each EFI disk from my ''utildisk list'' line command command as per this article and removed my reEFInd folders.

Hello Pascal88,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

I see you're trying to install Windows 10 on a Mac Pro (2008). Your Mac model does not support Windows 10, only the ones listed below support it:

Mac computers that support Windows 10

The following Mac models support 64-bit versions of Windows 10 when installed using Boot Camp. Use About This Mac to see which Mac you have, then check this list to see if it supports Windows 10.

  • MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)

Use Windows 10 on your Mac with Boot Camp

The latest version of Windows that can be installed via Boot Camp on your 2008 Mac Pro is Windows 7.

Install Windows 7 and earlier on your Mac using Boot Camp

Take care.

I appreciate your official position on this matter but (not supported does not mean that it will not work! This is what I did to ''Boot Camp Assistant'' to allow the creation of a Windows 10 Installation file:

Enable Bootcamp to install from usb for OSX 10.9**WORKS**

In order to save the info.plist I had to launch HD Recovery (Command R) then launch terminal and write csrutil disable in order to disable the System Integrity Protection

Once Windows 10 installed I had to install the Bootcamp drivers (made for windows 8 but work in 10) For my 2008 MacPro 3,1. it is version 5.1.5722.

Then finally to be able to install the drivers I had to Launch Windows powershell and tepee this in the command line:

C:\Users\User\Bootcamp\Drivers\Apple\BootCamp.msi (User, being your username)

Viola Windows 10 on my aging but reliable 2008 Mac Pro !!

I can understand apple wanting me to empty my wallet on a newer machine but mine serves my needs. They should at least offer some for of tips instead of making us scour the internet for solutions!

Thank you
