Q: iPad Pro 9.7 Random Restart

Normally wouldn't think much of this but, I have a 2 day old iPad Pro 9.7 128GB that has restart on me twice so far. In the middle of using it, it will cut to the Apple logo on the black background for a minute before returning to the passcode screen. Oddly enough, it will accept Touch ID in place of a passcode, something it doesn't usually do when it loses power. Any idea on the cause or how to figure it out? I chatted with the tech support but they only help they could provide was to do a restore. I just performed it, but my concern is that I installed an app or enabled something causing the iPad to crash and it'll simply continue to do that due to the bad app.

    BeyondtheTech,

I emailed Tim Cook in May and received a call from Executive Relations who connected me with a Special Senior Advisor. My IPads data was down loaded using my IMac. Also, I kept a log of the restarts.  After the log was emailed to him I was told not further data was necessary and I would be contacted by him when he heard back from the engineers.  I am still waiting.  I think all this was an effort to appease me.  It seems that many Apple employees have never heard about the 9.7 problems.  All their heads are in the sand.

Now my private email keeps telling me that my settings are wrong and my email cannot be downloaded.  I contacted their customer service and everything is set up perfectly.  Once, again it is the IPad.  I have an appointment with the "Genius  Bar" today.  Lets see how much a waste of time this is.

This is all a waste of time. Apple will never admit to this. I am so upset. I paid $1000 for this lemon.

Hi Ashley, I have no more issues with the restarting problems after I contact the apple support on chatting they help me with the step by step on opening general > settings and diagnostics and usage and they figured out for me what cause the battery to drain and iPad restart randomly after that they told me to reset network settings, after resetting the network settings battery seems normal again. Before it decreased 1% by 14 minutes and around 6 hours of usage I must charged it again but look at this screenshot after I made a complain to the Apple chat hopefully the random restart will not appear again *finger crossed* hope I can help you

before complaining to the Apple chat

I didn't have the screenshot of it as low as 4% as my iPad Pro does random restart on 28%

and I lost the usage and standby data as -

After complaining to the Apple chat

No random restart for a day after complaining it to the apple chat hopefully it will stay like this

Ashley,  I have my 4th Pro and it restarts the least of all.  It seems to do it when I hit the home button.  My IPhone 6 Plus  also running IOS 9.3.3 has no problems.  Why.  Apple won't say.  I saw one of the managers at my local Apple Store and he suggested I use gestures instead of the home button.  I am trying to train myself not to touch the home button as an experiment.  If it works it will be wonderful.  Go to settings---multitasking---gestures and it will tell you how to do it.  It is worth a try.  Nothing else has worked.

The good news is it seems to be fixed in the next os. Haven't had a restart since I started using it.

Same here. All gone and I still have my original purchase. Thank you for all the security updates.

I tried reading all the security fixes in 9.3.3 and couldn't finish.

The jackers got right down to the kernel. I looked at the restarts as protection, a last ditch firewall.

I read incidia has a jailbreak for 9.3.3 finally. Huh. Finally! It was released a few weeks ago. If you ipad and phone users thought the restarts were an inconvenience, the new incidia has you install it, every time you restart. You are owned.

Plus, you drive the price up. More people needed, finding more hacks, because you give incidia your ID, personal info, password and machine. This time, down to the kernel.

Keep fiddling. I hope some day soon, any one who uses that stuff will just plain have to buy a new machine. No excuses. Warranty voided. Four replacements, what a joke.  Refurbs. What did you hope to gain?

This is funny. An Apple advert for the iPad Pro 9.7 haha https://youtu.be/1zPYW6Ipgok

I no longer use mine after the reboots got worse using Public Beta 2.

Now the thing restarts at any time with any app. It is a paper weight next to my bed.

I would strongly advise schools and companies to avoid this iPad until Apple have fixed the problem.

You do not want an entire staff of people angry at the IT Department.

This is all a big conspiracy theory and you people are imaginary with an issue that does not exist.

Just like the advice from Senior Advisors the advice from the Apple Store Manager is wrong.  IPad restarted when swiping to close Safari.  Nothing works to stop the random restarts.  Hope 10 will do it.

I'm glad somebody thinks so, mine still does it. Sometimes it will be fine for 4 or 5 days, but it still does it. This is NOT solved.
