Q: iPad Pro 9.7 Random Restart

Normally wouldn't think much of this but, I have a 2 day old iPad Pro 9.7 128GB that has restart on me twice so far. In the middle of using it, it will cut to the Apple logo on the black background for a minute before returning to the passcode screen. Oddly enough, it will accept Touch ID in place of a passcode, something it doesn't usually do when it loses power. Any idea on the cause or how to figure it out? I chatted with the tech support but they only help they could provide was to do a restore. I just performed it, but my concern is that I installed an app or enabled something causing the iPad to crash and it'll simply continue to do that due to the bad app.

unfortunately, I still get random reboots with iOS 9.3.3. I am on my second iPad Pronwith no improvement with the replacement. Apple offered another replacement , but I declined until they can guarantee the replacement will actually correct the problem. I have had this problem since March. I am very disappointed with Apple.

Considering it was just a 26MB security update, I doubt it also addresses this issue. that being said, I got yet another replacement since the last one actually had a small defect in the screen as well. We'll see if this replacement reboots itself, and if it does, I'd assume it would be building a case for a recall of this model.

So far, no reboots, but I just got it yesterday afternoon and it just finished restoring from an iCloud backup and the iOS 9.3.4 update a couple of hours ago.

I Spent 2 1/2 hrs  Apple chat did a complete restore which was claimed should fix the issue. So last night sorting my photos in iCloud and in exiting tons the iPad reset straight to black reed with the apple logo this time it took much longer to return to the home screen without logging in. So I guess the  didn't sort the problem. I wait to see if 9.3.4 does fix this as it has appeared here yet

OKay. People are having problems with their new iPad Pro. Apple knows this and has not done anything to fix this problem. They are continuing to sell them. It would appear to me that they are committing fraud, selling an expensive device that doesn't work. Apple isn't above the law and the law is in place to protect consumers from just this type of thing.

What to do... what to do...?

On another note, I have an iPad 2 that doesn't work as it should, so I bought a new iPad Pro and now I'm afraid to even get it up and running. What the iPad Pro is doing is pretty much what my old iPad does ALL THE TIME! I'm on a page and afraid to scroll because most, not all, of the time, the oops, the page either has to reload or I get dumped onto my home page or a black screen. I'm about done with Apple and I'm not above telling my friends about the issues.

Any advice other than returning it for a refund?

unfortunately, iOS 9.3.4 does not fix the problem.  Still got a partial reboot after update.

I have updated to iOS public beta 3 and so keen to see if this fixes the problem once and for all.

    Thank you for 9.3.3

No app crashes since the day of install and no more short reboots. Success for all of you and most importantly all of us.

I get a loss of data notice from most companies I deal with once a month. It seems to be getting easier for jacks to get into systems, they together or one individual company bought me a permanent subscription to All Clear ID.

I enjoy my iPad Pro 9.7, wi-fi only, 128 gig, more, than any of the eight before. The big brother Pro was sent back and certainly meant for business, hospital and corporate use, not me.

Next year's 9.7 model will be the groundbreaker of all times.

It wasn't a waste going though the whining imaginary problems because it always leads to more knowledge.

I found using two content/ad blockers has speed up Safari to a really, really fast browser. I just used the Apple ad blocker prior to this. It was all the seamless ads on the sides and all available other space filling that space with Google ads which slowed Safari to a snail's pace.

I found also a problem I thought was a problem, wasn't. IRig engineers emailed me that the reason recording DAW apps chose internal speakers or hard wired through the ear headset is because the lag even at the fastest speeds of Bluetooth Is too slow.

No problem where I though a problem existed. None of midi over Bluetooth keyboards and devices I had tried were acceptable. All had to be returned. I start hearing midi lag at 5 ms. Very low compared to the 15 ms, lag is supposed to be noticed. Musicians have to hear in real time, it seems that Bluetooth 4 and Bluetooth LE have a ways to go, however I have faith that it will be figured out and applied.

Thank you for the monumental r&d to not only stop tiny restarts but the huge list of security fixes to keep us safe. Thank you also for 9.3.4 which I found today from this thread. Perfect, with no side effects whatsoever.

The solution that works for me:

    1. Make sure that you've signed in with your iCloud ID on the iPad and turned on Safari sync in setting->iCloud. Then;

    2. go to setting->safari->clear history and website data. done!

This was done on iPad Pro 9.7" 128gb LTE.

I think the safari webdata or sth from previous devices might not be compatible with the new OS or iPad Pro. So just restore as new will not solve the issue because the data syncs through iCloud after restored.

I DFUed my iPad, and restored with set as new on 9.3.3, but the problem persisted. The aforementioned medthod solves the soft reboot that safari causes for me. Let me know if it works for you also!

Tried the Safari steps above. Nope, still crashed. Decided to try the latest Public Beta. Let's see if it holds up.

Too bad that it doesn't work on all devices.

Try DFU restore with set as new option and then the steps. I don't if it's relevant.
