Q: When opening certain webpages I get a msg "can't connect to server" but it works fine in Safe Boot

The last few days when using the internet, certain webpages will not open. I get an error msg saying "can't connect to server", yet it works fine with other websites like Facebook & YouTube.  This happens when I use Safari, Firefox & Chrome.  Yet if I am in Safe Boot mode it is working fine.  I have Overplay VPN App installed and when I am in normal mode and connect to VPN Overplay, all webpages are working fine. I am searched the net for days trying to come up with a solution but nothing I have tried has worked.  I am not very computer savvy either so don't know much of what I am doing with this technical stuff.  I emptied caches but that didn't work.  Following advice from an answer to another question on this forum which was similar to mine, I went into Terminal and performed a diagnosis test.  I don't understand any of the information in this test so am hoping someone on here can decipher it. The report is quite long but this is the beginning of it pasted below.  Please help!

    Howdy AussieEgypt,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.

If an issue is not occurring when booted to safe mode then you have already determined that the issue has been isolated to some 3rd party software running on your Mac.  Take a look at the information below to get started with removing some startup and login items, and see if the issue persists:

    Test your login items

    1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Users & Groups.

    2. Click your account name below Current User, then click Login Items.

Make a list of the login items—you’ll need to remember them later.

    3. Select all of the login items, then click the Remove button

    4. Choose Apple menu > Restart.

    5. If this solves the problem, open Users & Groups preferences again, add the login items one at a time, and restart your Mac after adding each one.

When the problem occurs again, follow the steps above to remove only the last login item you added.

OS X El Capitan: If you think you have incompatible login items

    Cheers.

Also you're a couple of system updates behind.  Download and apply the OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 Combo Update and try the websites again.  The combo updater will include fixes and improvements to the system as well as a new Safari app.

Your report shows several pieces of adware. See if the Removal function of Etrecheck gets rid of them.
