It may help to restart your watch:
- To turn it off: press and hold the side button until you see the Power Off slider; drag it to turn off;
- To turn it back on: press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.
If the issue persists, contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available) or make a Genius Bar reservation with a view to having your watch checked under warranty:

My watch started doing this a few weeks ago and also doing this at night while on the charger (and would stop charging at the time of the error). At first it would happen occasionally and I would tap this error message and it would be done, but starting yesterday the error would recur up to 13 times in a row before it would clear and many times throughout the day. Today the battery drained precipitously. My alarm setting function is also working differently (I have to exit and re-enter the app for it to register that I set the alarm after I press set) for the past week. If this restart suggestion doesn't work I'll have to go in to the Genius Bar. I've had it for less than five months. Thanks to Jonathan for the suggestion.
