Hi All,
Please can anyone tell me how to get the volume working on my husband's MacBook Pro?
Even though the toggle is up to the max, the volume icon is pale grey.
Also, when I go into sound in system preferences nothing is muted and we haven't changed anything - it just went silent all on its own!
His OS is 10.6.8...any ideas gratefully received.

you can try a NVram reset and an smc reset

Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support
and see if that helps.
Is there a red light in the audio output port? If so, the internal switch is stuck.
