Q: Drumkit Designer: Half-open hi hat mapping?

So, I´m wondering if there´s any solution to my specific problem. I really think there should be...

I´m using the new Drumkit Designer in Logic Pro X and I quite like the way it sounds. I´ve abandoned Superior Drummer completely because I think Drumkit Designer does the job at least as well, and it´s integrated into Logic itself.

I have a quite frustrating problem, however.

All other drum samplers I´ve used have had a separate "half-open hi hat" sound, that can be mapped to a certain key. I´ve programmed a great number of backing tracks (for when I do live gigs by myself or with a guitarist, in cases where the customer wants a whole band but only wants to pay for a duo) using this method. I´ve created my own midi-mapping and have placed the half-open hi hat on the Ab-1-key.

It seems, however, that Drumkit Designer does´t work in this way at all, but rather offers the half-open hi hat sound by using the modulation wheel with the closed hi-hat. This is fine i guess - the possibility to use the mod wheel to change the opening level of the hi hat makes for a flexible and dynamic way of programming. BUT - there not even being an option to instead map the half open hi hat sound to a certain key seems like a pretty big blunder to me. The way I´ve programmed my drum tracks, about 200 of them, this limitation (if there is indeed no workaround) makes them all pretty much useless. I need for there to be a possibility of accessing the half open hi hat with a certain midi note instead of using the mod wheel. Either that, or I´ll need to remake all my drum tracks (which not gonna happen).

Please tell me that there is a straightforward way of solving this!
