Iphone 9.3.1 won't download podcasts

I'm using an Iphone 5 that has been updated at least 2 days ago and I have been unable to download any new podcasts that I am subscribed and unsubscribed to. I have done a iphone restart, have made sure that I have room (at least 3-4 GB's of space available) and I have tried uninstalling old podcasts (now will not redownload sadly). Is there a fix for this or will I need to try going to the apple store (which is an hour away from me >_<)?
