The DHCP server reservation mechanism and the network hardware address (confusingly known as the MAC address) of the client are what are used for that purpose — WGM can use the addresses of the client, but isn't the mechanism used to initially establish the client IP addresses.
Thank you for that. I was searching everywhere trying to find a way to get that to work. Eventually just went to the workstation, logged in as admin (didn't need network access this way) and changed it from there. Logged back in with user and everything was up and running again. Trying to do it remotely was unsuccessful as the Mac IP address was not showing up.
