Apr 14, 2016 9:25 AM in response to lorraine_hopeby Mike Sombrio,That's a very clean EtreCheck report, I don't see anything obvious there. The log you posted looks like a crash log but I don't know how to read them. It doesn't look like your iMac is having kernel panics. Try booting onto safe mode Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up - Apple Support Be patient because it takes longer than a regular boot as the system makes some repairs and clears out some caches. Once it's completely booted up you can just restart normally. If that doesn't help report back and be specific about which apps are crashing, what happens when it crashes and what you have to do to recover from that crash. Your first post doesn't offer much valuable information.

Apr 14, 2016 9:39 AM in response to Mike Sombrioby lorraine_hope,Hi Mike, Thanks, I'll try the safe mode later, when it crashes it just completely stops working, completely frozen except for the mouse, the only way to recover is to turn it off with the power button and then turn it on again, it started a few months back just occasionally but now it's a couple times a day

Apr 14, 2016 1:18 PM in response to lorraine_hopeby Mike Sombrio,★HelpfulI would also start into recovery, hold Command-R at startup, and run Disk Utility to repair the drive. Make note of the SMART status of the drive while you have DU open, anything other than verified indicates a failing hard drive.
You might also run the Apple Hardware Test in extended mode from disc two of your original gray install discs.

ApplicationsThe graphics processor or logic board is failing and would have to be replaced if you want to keep using the machine. Apple would probably decline to service it because of its age. An independent service provider might be willing, but the part may no longer be available, and if it is, the cost of the service may be more than it's worth to you.
The "etrecheck" stuff is irrelevant.

Apr 14, 2016 1:28 PM in response to lorraine_hopeby etresoft,Hello lorraine_hope,
The key phrase is "GPU Debug Info Start". It has been previously reported here (see Re: Mac Pro "GPU Debug Info Start" with ATI Radeon HD 5770) and elsewhere (http://www.mactricksandtips.com/2012/11/solve-your-mac-freezinghanging-in-mounta in-lion.html)
Thanks for posting that. I am always looking for ways to improve EtreCheck. Detecting this condition would be a valuable improvement.
