Macbook Pro (mid-2012) not charging.

Hello,

Yesterday my Macbook Pro Mid-2012 stopped charging. I've experienced this problem with previous Macbooks and previous chargers. Normally the issue was resolved by replacing the charger. Today, I bought a new charger however it is still not charging. I'm not really sure where to go from here. Before the Macbook ran completely out of battery I tried to reset the SMC (not entire sure what this does but the internet suggested it), however nothing seemed to happen at all. Now that the Macbook is completely out of battery I'm unable to try and reset the SMC again.

I've tried obvious stuff such as clearing the MagSafe port. Can anyone give me any advice on what to do/try next, or any suggestions as to what could be causing this issue?

Thanks,

Thom

Hi Tom:

To Reset the SMC on MacBook with non-removable batteries:

If the battery is nonremovable

  1. Shut down the Mac.
  2. Plug in the MagSafe or USB-C power adapter to a power source and to your Mac.
  3. Using the built-in keyboard, press Shift-Control-Option on the left side of the keyboard, then press the power button at the same time.
  4. Release all keys, then press the power button again to turn on your Mac
