Apr 14, 2016 12:02 PM in response to jmsfmtexby Ralph9430,Neither of the computers you mention supports a Lightning connector. Lightning connectors are used on iPads and iPhones.
If the port you are connecting with on those computers has a lightning bolt symbol it is actually a Thunderbolt port. You can connect two Macs using Target Disk mode using a Thunderbolt cable.
Follow the steps in this Apple support page to connect two computer using Target Disk Mode.

Apr 14, 2016 12:17 PM in response to jmsfmtexby Limnos,Given what you actually want to do I would think wi-fi would be fine unless you have something horribly slow or you have RAW format files of the entire Hobbit series. By the time you fiddle with cables and set up Target Disk Mode... You might even find using a flash drive to go just as fast if you're just talking a couple of hundred MB.

Apr 14, 2016 12:19 PM in response to jmsfmtexby Duane,The fastest way would be to boot one of the Macs in Target Disk mode, connect them via Thunderbolt, drag and drop the files across from one Mac to the other.

Apr 14, 2016 1:06 PM in response to Duaneby jmsfmtex,Thank you for the great replies. I attempted to use the "T" boot and cable connection but it did not show up on the main computer. The data I want to transfer is not the large so I will just stick with the WiFi transfer. Thanks again for your invaluable assistance. All the responses were very helpful.
