Q: Epson 3880 Failed Filter Error, OSX 10.11.3

Good afternoon!

I have an Epson 3880 Stylus Pro I use for printing photos.  Ever since the last OS X 10.11.3 (15D21) I've been unable to get my MAC to communicate with the Epson printer.  I get a "Failed Filter" error message when I attempt to print.  I've tried resetting the printers under system preferences several times, downloading new drivers from Epson (v9.33), renaming the old printer folder under the library directory....... etc etc.  It's been two days now and I've run out of self-help options, but I am ready to let Apple OS developers know what I personally think of their last update.    Hours of wasted time attempting to fix something that wasn't broken before the last "update".  Very frustrating and a time suck!!!

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.  Hopefully someone from Apple corporate is reading this.  There are a lot of customers with similar problems. Please look into software dev/ops processes, specifically testing with Photoshop, Lightroom, Topaz Labs, Nik Software, Alien Skin, etc.  The overall impact to the graphics and multi-media community for bugs like this one is huge.

The last OS X update was v10.11.4.

Are you sure your Mac's software is completely up to date?

Apple  > About This Mac   (Overview tab)

If it indicates v10.11.3, update to v10.11.4 to see if helps the printer issue.

    Reset the Print System:

You can reset the printing system as a final step when other steps for resolving printer issues don't succeed. Resetting the printing system causes all printers and scanners—including their custom settings—to be removed from the Printers & Scanners pane of System Preferences. All queues and jobs are also removed. Afterward, you'll need to set up your printers and scanners again.

    1. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
    2. Click Printers & Scanners.
    3. In some versions of OS X, this preference is named Print & Scan or Print & Fax.
    4. Control-click anywhere in the list of devices on the left, then choose “Reset printing system” from the shortcut menu that appears.

Thanks for the quick response Carolyn!  I'm downloading the .14 update now.  The last release broke it, maybe this one will fix it.  Fingers crossed.
