Iphone4 won't recover or update.

My iPhone 4 has gone into recovery mode. I have recovered my iPod before so I know what & how to do it all. It gets as far as the white bar loading 3/4 way through the apple logo on the line and i get a notification from iTunes that it cannot be restored or updated. Exactly what it says :-> The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (29). <- ... I click OK and it takes me to the website to say what to do, but it says exactly what I'm already doing. My sleep/lock button is broke too.. Can someone please tell me another way?
