Carplay intermittently stops working

I have a 2017 Audi A4 and have noticed that occasionally, when trying to use CarPlay in the car, I am unable to get CarPlay to connect. It works well 90% of the time but when it doesn't, I'm at a loss to know how to fix it. I've tried repairing the Bluetooth and CarPlay, a hard reset on the iPhone but neither seems to work. So far, the only thing that seems to work is shutting of the car, walking away and coming back a few minutes later. I presume this is because the phone is out of Bluetooth range but I'm not sure as turning Bluetooth connectivity off didn't seem to make a difference.

Any thoughts, suggestions or things I've missed?

Thank you!

I have been without CarPlay in my 2017 Chevy Colorado since 10.3.1 update -- it intermittently connects and then drops. I reset the MyLink to re-learn the phone, and it still is not working 99 percent of the time. It will randomly show up normally and then disappear. This appears to be an issue with the software update from Apple -- the CarPlay software in the car doesn't recognize the 10.3.1 update. Apple can salt 250 billion in profits "overseas" but they don't support a 2017 model car with their latest update. I raised the problem at my local Genius Bar, but they said that all they could do is push the problem to the engineers and that I should wait for a software update. I'm leaving on a long road trip, and no CarPlay; just as I broke down and paid for a streaming music app that now barely functions.
