The first two of these are normal. The rest are odd. I'd detach all external devices with the exception of the mouse and keyboard. It could be some external device is reporting badly. Partitions are reported below the device. Your seem to be having a problem with too many devices reported. Don't know why.

Each of these entries is reporting a storage device.

/dev/disk#

You know the drill. Add back on device at a time & see what is up.

What does this say?

mac $ ls -l /Volumes/
total 16
drwxr-xr-x 109 mac staff 3.7K Apr 15 14:17 Backup/
drwxrwxrwx@ 1 mac staff 4.0K Apr 15 14:17 COPYIT/
lrwxr-xr-x    1 root  admin     1B Apr 15 00:23 Macintosh HD@ -> /
drwxr-x--- 11 mac staff 442B Apr 15 14:17 mac copyit/
mac $

Hi rccharles,

thanks for looking at this for me.

So,

i am currently running Yosemite OS X.

After booting my system holding down “cmd + r” i enter into recovery mode.

Once in recovery mode i then run the terminal command “diskutil list” and that is when i get the above list.

All devices and external drives have already been removed.

ls -1 /Volumes/ - just displays the main Macintosh HD drive and nothing els.

Im just not sure what they represent.
