CUPS Printer Server Windows Client Authentication

Hi all,

For a while now, we've been 99% Mac based when it comes to clients, so we've always run OS X Server as it handled our needs. For Print serving, we use the built in CUPS Server system and Web Gui to manage it. At the end of last year, due to supply waste concerns, we started requiring authentication for our Color Printers, and limiting them to a select few (BW printers do not require authentication). I was just informed that next week we have a few Windows 7 and 10 users starting, and that they'll need to be able to print in color.

In the past, I've had no issues adding printers to Windows machines using ipp to connect to the CUPS printers, however, those were only our unauthenticated BW printers. When I attempt to add one of our authentication required printers to my demo PC, I'm able to using the following URL type (http://IP-OF-SERVER:631/printers/COLORPRINTER) however, I'm not prompted for a user or password at any time when attempting to print like I am on Mac clients. The print jobs just seem to vanish and go nowhere.

After a bit of googling, I've tried this URL TYPE: http://username:password@IP-OF-SERVER:631/printers/COLORPRINTER ; however, Windows is unable to find that printer.

Anyone have any suggestions? Something I need to enable in CUPS for PCs?

Thanks!

Mac mini, OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)
