Thanks Linc! Now I've spoken to Apple Support, they ran through a couple of measures (namely emptying some caches etc) and offered a genius appointment, although there is currently nothing available locally so I'm trying to find a slot myself. Of note, this has happened again, and it appears that this happens frequently in the afternoon, around the same time. Now, looking at the console again at the time when it crashed you can spot a funny behaviour with regards to the time - it seems to switch in between console entries. Might a sync with a time server cause havoc?
