Q: Storage full

I'm using the latest generation Apple TV 32 GB and it says it can't download apps because there is no space. Have checked Settings>General>Manage Storage and my apps doesn't even take upp 300mb. Downloaded a storage checker and found out that the device is full. But what is it that has filled it up?

1) Streaming services? If so how to I clear their cache?

2) Aerial screensavers? How to I limit the amount of space they take up?

Other than those two I can't think of a reason my Apple TV should have full storage.

I would do a software restore: Restore your Apple TV to its factory settings - Apple Support

Here is the setting for the video screen savers.

Based on what you said you saw in the storage area, I would assume you have a corrupted system and start fresh.

Power glitches can corrupt the system because the memory is re-writeable.

I think Apple may be misleading us on storage usage. I downloaded System Activity Monitor. It says I have 5.9G used, 23.6 free. That totals only 29.5 of a nominal 32, leaving 2.5 for the system to boot and restore from. But the settings show only 288 Mb used. Why the discrepancy? The problem is that apps, particularly GAMES can download files far beyond the maximum 200 Mb initial download. I have only one game, and when I first started it, it downloaded for an hour solid. I suspect the game is the big offender in my system. If you have a few games on a 32 G system, they might fill it. Supposedly, it should be possible to archive that data to iCloud, or make it only download on demand, but I don't know how. Try deleting one game and see how much space you recover, using your storage monitor. Too bad we can't see which app is using what storage, as we can with iOS. Maybe that will come with time.
