Q: trouble installing an El Capitan update on mid 2010 MacBook Pro

Received request to update El Capitan.  Went to App Store to download but received a notice saying:  This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.  I am the original user and it was not refunded or cancelled although I have changed my original email and passwords.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.3)
