When open a new tab in safari, a finder window also opens up

Whenever I open a new tab in safari, with Command+T or clicking the + button, a new finder tab also opens up with it.

MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

The issue could be caused by a Safari Extension, Internet plug-in, or other add-on.

It sounds like your home page is set to a local file. Please check in the General tab of the Safari preferences window.
