Urgent - Cannot access certain websites via Time capsule

I have been using Airport Extreme for years and the wifi connection has been perfect. But since days ago, whether from my Mac, PC or mobile devices, I began to have problems logging into a couple of Weebly pages I built for work. Access to other websites are still as smooth as ever. I have tried rebooting my Airport Extreme, updated the Airport Extreme software in Airport Utility, but no luck. Please kindly advise how I can fix this problem. Thanks so much!

This seems to be the problem I am having with a recent Time Capsule, which I discussed on another thread. I was on the phone with AppleCare and a very helpful individual checked all possibilities and he thinks that this router's MAC address was flagged by some wide security process. He says many faultless MAC addresses are bundled together in a large froup for days at end. A sorry affair.

Anyone with experience with this?

Troubleshooting this issue will require that you investigate your ISP, your router, and the website host itself.

ISP

  • Contact your ISP and ask them if they are blocking any ports on the public side of your Internet connection.
  • Find out if they placed your public IP address in a "black hole." This is what an ISP will do if your public IP is getting too many requests from a remote server. This would be common if a host on your local network is infected with a virus. ref: Realtime Blackhole Lists (RBL's)
  • You can also find out if your IP Address is black-listed using this link.

Router

Disable IPv6 routing on your router. For Apple routers, this would be equivalent to changing the IPv6 setting to: Link-local only. ref: AirPort Utility > Select the base station > Edit > Internet tab > Internet Options... > Configure IPv6: Link-local only

Website Host

  • Find your public-side IP address. One easy way is to enter the following in a web browser: https://www.whatismyip.com/. Note the results.
  • Leave your computer running, then disconnect the Ethernet cable between your computer and the router, and then, connect that same cable directly to the modem. Note: You may need to restart the modem to allow it to assign an IP address to your computer.
  • Go to whatismyip again and note the public IP address value. If they differ AND you can still access the Internet, then you have a "black hole" condition. In this case, it's not a router issue and you will need to work with the website host for a solution. If the host is not cooperative, you can also try delisting your IP address directly by using this link.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions. Using the link you provided, I found that my IP address is blacklisted by RATS Dyna. I checked my IP address again on this Span Rats Removal site I found on Google. Below are the results which I can't quite understand. Can you tell me what it means or what I shall do in "normal" language? Thanks lots!!

Please read the link that I provided above. It tells you how to solve the issue.

You will need to get in touch with the administration folks at RATS-Dyna and ask them what information they need to remove your AirPort Time Capsule from their blacklist.

Usually, this is the MAC Address of the Time Capsule which Apple calls the Ethernet ID. To see it.....

Open AirPort Utility

Hold down the option key on your Mac while you double-click on the picture of the Time Capsule
