    Meg --

              So i've caused stunned silence?

    Bwaaaahaaaaaaahaaaaaa!

I think that's one of the best responses I've ever seen.

This whole discussion reminds me of when I first registered here.

Every thing I posted was in Tiger.  Or G3 Macs.

I had a G3, and I was using Tiger.  Made sense to me. . .

At ANY rate, our job as dedicated volunteers here, is to help posters.   Like you have always done, Meg.

Whether or not they are not technically in the "right" forum, doesn't matter at all, IMHO.

We don't need to correct.  We just need to find them the help that they need.

Like we did, when we first discovered this amazing resource.

I have to admit that because of the way in which I look at and respond to questions, I oftentimes respond to questions that are in a totally incorrect forum. I usually only look at what the forum is if there is some lack of clarity in the question itself..... If I see an iCloud question, and it is clearly about iCloud, then I really don't notice if it is in Apple iWorks forum, or Older iPods forum, or the iCloud forum....

You're welcome. I'm not sure how they arrange themselves on the thumbnail. If you want a cetain one under your avatar you need to get a rectangle in your chosen field of expertise.

    Right, Gail.

    Same here.

Personally, I think the least helpful thing any of us helpers can do is to post "You've posted in the wrong forum."

It's almost always directed at a brand new poster here, desperately looking for help.  They don't know how the forums are organized.

They just need help.  Everytime I see a post criticising which forums people have chosen to seek help, I get really upset.

Our job is to be helpful, dammit.

And thanks, Gail, for giving me a perfect opportunity to rant, just a tad.

In placing his question in the "correct" forum the OP called into value the worth of the Forum. i offered a much better solution.

Bob, none of what I said was directed at you, or anyone else.

    You do a great job.

Well I'm glad I could be of help ~Bee!

And I'm in total agreement with you. I feel really bad when someone is clearly just lost, and looking for any kind of help they can find. And since the posts I respond to are usually on the 1st page of the All/Discussions group, the responses are within minutes of the questions being posted, if I can provide an answer, seems just easier to do that....

I have at times used the report post to ask that the post be moved to a better discussion.  Don't know how that effects the original poster.  Can they still find their post?  I figure they will get a better answer.
