How can you use the flash on your iPad Pro 9.7" as a torch

Not sure about the Pro but I commonly use my old iPad 2 for finding my way in dark areas with the built-in Clock app. Its background is very (almost painfully) white and I can access it quickly from the slide-up control panel at the bottom of the home screen, even if the Pad is locked. Might give that a try before buying an app.

It's a very 'keep it simple" thing but works well for me.

According to MacRumors the iPad Pro 9.7 has no option in control center for a flashlight, despite having a flash. This is in contrast to an iPhone which has a control center flashlight icon. An app may be your only option other than using the screen as Allan Jones suggested.

From a fellow iPad Pro 9.7 user, this turns out to be a bug in iOS. How do I know it's a bug: because the iPad Pro User Guide, in the section under Camera, clearly states that we're supposed to be able to operate the flash like a flashlight from the control center. I even did an iPad erase and restore as new and can't get it.

There is no option for this in the control centre so what I do is go to the camera then go to vide and turn on the flash you dont kneed to record to turn it stays on when you toggle it. Hope this helps

Thanks, that was the workaround I was trying to find and was unsuccessful, it works here also!

The workaround that I found works is if you go to the video recorder, select flash icon, and switch it on. You don't need to be recording. It stays on throughout.
