Photos on my ipod won't show on my computer

My 2nd generation ipod nano with 2gb has some photos that I want to keep but when I plugged it into my computer, I can't see the photos like when you plug it in, you will normally see a music tab with the music but there wasn't a photo tab on itunes so I tried to directly go to my ipod using file explorer ( the windows version of finder) and i got into the photos folder but no photos were inside it. Just files.User uploaded fileUser uploaded file

Photos are not stored on the iPod as the original image files. When syncing, iTunes converts the original image files to fit the iPod's tiny screen, and stores them in a special database format. This is to save the amount of storage space used by the photos on the iPod, and optimize how the iPod operates when showing photos.

You cannot use iTunes to retrieve photos that are on the iPod. You need to find the original source used (on the computer) when syncing the photos to the iPod (or a backup of that source).

There may be third-party utilities that can extract individual photos from the iPod's storage, but they will not be the original higher-resolution image files. The synced photos on the iPod are low-res versions for the iPod's tiny screen.
