I can't change my mac's keyboard batteries?

I have a 28" iMac but with the keyboard without lightning charging, it is run by batteries. It stopped working obviously as the batteries were out of charge so i went to remove the batteries using a coin but it is completely stuck. I've used a number of items but its properly stuck and their's no way for me to change the batteries and replace my batteries. What can I do because I paid over 1700 for the mac and the keyboard is unusable and it's so frustrating. Please help.

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

Hi!

There is a back panel that is made of plastic on the battery compartment. If you squeeze it gently it will pop off allowing access to the other end where the contact is attached to a spring. ( like a flashlight) You will need at least two "tools" to help remove the battery . I used ESD-Safe Sticks as to not damage the keyboard. With one stick I can retract the spring just enough to pass the other tool into the cylinder to push the batteries through. There might be resistance, since it sounds like your batteries might be swollen : )

If you wanted to avoid buying ESD safe sticks, and I wouldn't recommend sing a knife, I would suggest an Apple Store (if possible)

I've seen them use ESD safe sticks to pry stuff off of device 🙂

cheers!
