CUPS+Gimp Print Drivers-Cannot print!

Hello.

Thanks for reviewing. Please help.

My programs (all) no longer see my printer. I am using OS 10.3.9 on a G3 Powerbook. When I utilize the Print/Fax utility to fix the problem, seeking to access an Epson 740 (which has NO manufactured drivers for OS X) under the Epson USB pull-down menu the utility targets the "Epson Stylus Color CUPS+Gimp-Print v4.2.5" driver.

It fails, however, giving me the message, "client-error-not-found".

I am nonplussed by this problem.
Prior to a re-install of OS X I was able to access the printer. Now I cannot.

If you have any inkling as to how I might resolve this please reply. I would be very grateful.

Thank you!

G3 FW Powerbook (M7572 Family), Mac OS X (10.3.9), CPU: Power PC 750; 400MHz

At Gimp-print (now called GutenPrint)
http://gutenprint.sourceforge.net/pSupportedPrinters.php3

you can download a driver closer to the one you want your Mac to see.
As you have guessed an Epson 740 is not native to Mac, but Gimp-Print drivers can produce amazing functionality to obscure printers to run on a Mac.

If you are unfamiliar with Gimp-Print that site will tell you all about it.

Good luck
