Apr 17, 2016 5:54 PM in response to mawellby VikingOSX,★HelpfulIf you have unchecked Mail & Messages in the Search Results for System Preferences : Spotlight panel, then it is possible that you are getting hits off of the previous Spotlight cache/database.
I would click on the Privacy tab. and then drag/drop the boot drive (e.g. Macintosh HD) icon from the Desktop onto the Privacy panel, wait ten seconds, select it, and then click the minus button at the bottom to remove it from the panel. This will cause Spotlight to rebuild its database — without Mail & Messages.
