The use of FaceTime while on wi-fi does not incur a cost. There is no per time charge, or a monthly subscription. The only exception would be how you get your wi-fi.

Facetime in and of itself is a free service. Over Wifi and Cellular Data There is no subscription.

You only pay whatever it is you pay for internet access in either of those connections.  If you use it over your cellular data connection if will use your allotted data from your carrier plan.

You're welcome. Phil's post is a further explanation of what I said and was hinting to in regards to how you get your wi-fi. Seems you get it from your ISP, so only your regular ISP charge is all you will incur, nothing extra for FaceTime while on wi-fi.

With the update there is nightshift mode.  What this lets you do is when you swipe up for flashlight and stuff theres a new button. it dims the screen with a yellow like tune.  it helps the eye at night. and of corse you may change how yellow it is in settings and you can set a schedule. it may sound weird but just try it out tonight when your screen is hurting your eyes.

I have no issues with the latest version of iOS, however I'm using an iPhone 6s. The latest iOS could result in some speed issues with your older device, but that is to be expected, given its age. As far as FaceTime is concerned, you should have no issues whatsoever with using it on wi-fi.

The only thing I would comment on from earlier replies, is that it does not require an iPhone as Presley60 said. It just needs to be an iOS device, unless you have a Mac computer, and it could be both. Also, Night Shift requires an iPhone 5s or greater to work. It would not work on your iPhone 4s.
