Q: Keyboard shortcut to activate airplay to apple tv?

I'm looking to activate airplay mirroring from my macbook pro to my apple tv 4 with my bluetooth keyboard when I'm not at my mac.

I tried to create an automator service with a 'watch me do' command where I clicked on the airplay menu bar icon, and then selected my apple tv from the drop down, and then assigned the service a keyboard shortcut... Which works, but if I have any application besides 'finder' open and selected, it fails to run (I believe this is because other apps don't have permission to control the system in this way, I had to add finder in the system prefs > security and privacy > privacy > accessibility tab to get it to even work at all).

Is there a way to activate airplay mirroring with a keyboard shortcut without installing extra apps?
