Cost of updating 10.6.2 to 10.6.8

Hi all,

My iMac (2010) is running really slow and the best solution seems to be to erase it and re-install everything. I had upgraded the OS to El Capitan and would want to return to that but was concerned over possibility/cost. My OS discs from purchase are 10.6.2 which I've learned can be upgraded to the necessary 10.6.8 for further upgrading to El Capitan, but can anyone advise me how much this will cost (in UK terms)? I'd like to know this before I proceed.

Download the 10.6.8 combo update and run it.

Use the App Store to download El Capitan. Both are free.

It is advisable to use Software Update at least once so you get special updates such as the "Mac App Store Update for OS X Snow Leopard" - https://support.apple.com/HT205702
