Safari does't provide access to indexedDB and WebSQL from iframe

Hi! I’m sorry, my english is not good, but i need some help 🙂 I’m front-end developer, and i have a trouble with safari. I have a web-page, that contains iframe, page in iframe needs access to webSQL or IndexedDB, but in iframe it has no access to data bases. I found out that if set in safari settings «cookies and website data» to «allways allow» value, page in iframe works well and have access to webSQL and IndexedDB, but i can’t force page visitors to change browser settings. Do you can help me? (safari 9.1)

Hello Michael,

Your iframe should have access to its own resources, but not those of the parent frame. If you want to share data with another site, even if that is a site that holds your iframe, you will have to do it on the back end.

I understand, than iframe should have access to its own resources, but not those of the parent frame. But problem is that iframe does not have access to resources at all. Attempt to create data base (IndexedDB or WebSQL) results in an error.

Hello again Michael,

It looks like I was wrong. iframes are officially second-class DOM citizens. This is not Safari-specific behaviour. See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=595307

But it works in other browsers, excluding safari. Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Vivaldi gives iframe access to IndexedDB or WebSQL (if its supports)

Hello Michael,

That is irrelevant. If there is even the slightest possibility something is behaving as designed, then you should assume it is set in stone. Even if you did find a bona-fide bug, it might take two years to fix. One way or another, you need to find a workaround.
