Q: Google Drive storage questions for audio files

Trying to help my husband, an author, after the fact. He's working on a book and has compiled many gigabytes of audio interviews. All on Garageband as uncompressed aif files. He's not technically adept.

He saved them all to his Google Drive without doing anything to them. Now, he's out of space on his computer.

The files are all on Google Drive and appear to be fine -- but he needs to delete the originals on his computer to keep working.

In order for me to verify they're there in the cloud and working, I would have to download each and every one and fire up iTunes, is this correct? Because he didn't convert them, there's no way for me to play them where they reside, on Google Drive?

UGH.

Is there a way for him to batch convert what he's done so far? There are about 50 or so files, I think.

Apologies for the basic questions; this is not my forte.
