I understand you want to export just a section of an iBook to your students because the files are too big to download and install. What format is the file you are trying to share with your students? Will one of the options below work for you?
iBooks Author: Send your book via email
If you use the OS X Mail application, you can quickly email your book directly from iBooks Author in a variety of formats.
Email your book

With the book open, choose Share > Send via Mail, and choose an option from the submenu:
-
iBooks Author File: Creates an iBooks Author file (with the extension .iba). Your recipient needs to have iBooks Author installed to open the file.
-
iBooks File: Creates an iBooks file (with the extension .ibooks). Your recipient needs to have iBooks installed on iPad or Mac to open the file.
-
PDF: Creates a PDF file (with the extension .pdf). Links work in the resulting PDF, but other interactive media, such as movies and 3D objects, might not work as expected.
A new mail message opens with the version of your book attached.

Edit the email message and click Send.

File sizes
The typical book is about 2 MB. Books that contain enhanced features, such as audio or video, vary in size depending on the content. Enhanced books might take longer to download than a standard book.
The iBooks Store also offers textbooks that might be as large as 1 to 2 GB in file size. You might need a Wi-Fi connection to download them from an iOS device. Download times for textbooks vary depending on your Internet connection.
Take care,
