Q: Aperture 2 was deleted from my Mac.

Aperture was deleted from my Mac. I have the disk and serial number. When I try to install it, it asks to upgrade from Apple store. Apple no longer supports it, Is there anyway I can install the program ?

Thanks

iMac, iOS 9.3.1

Does it show up in the "Purchases" tab in the App Store?

You are aware that Apple has stopped all support on Aperture. While it still runs on El Capitan, it will not continue with some future release os OS X. It might be before you to migrate to some other third party application instead of Aperture.

Which version of MacOS X do you have?  Aperture 2 does not run at all on the newer MacOS X versions, you need Aperture 3, and that is a purchased upgrade and not a free update.

Early Aperture 3 versions can be purchased from eBay or Amazon, and you can update them from the Apple Support Downloads page up to Aperture 3.4.3. That version will run on MacOS X 10.8, Mt. Lion.

If you are now running MacOS 10.9.5 or newer, you need  Aperture 3.5.1 on MacOS X 10.9.5 Mavericks, or Aperture 3.6 on Yoesemite or El Capitan.  These versions are not available outside of the AppStore, and Apple stopped selling them. There is no way to upgrade Aperture 2 to a version that is compatible with any MacOS X newer than Mt. Lion.

If you are now running Yosemite or El Capitan, you can open your Aperture 2 Libraries in Photos for Mac, to be able to browse and edit your photos, and to migrate them to another professional photo application like LightRoom or Capture One.
