fan issue

Does anyone else have issues with iMovie making your mac sound like its going to take off?


I have a new macbook pro early 2015 and when i use iMovie the fan goes full pelt can i do anything?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

Open Activity Monitor (Finder>Apps>Utilities folder>Activity Monitor)

Use Activity Monitor on your Mac - Apple Support


Click on the CPU% tab at the top of the Activity Monitor app window. Keep an eye on this, then launch iMovie and watch what % the CPU tab goes up to.


Keep in mind like GeeD said, Mac's vents totally from from obstruction.


I just did this on my iMac and at first, it was 159% just opening the app. Then shot back down to to below 5% quickly, with just having the app open. If it's constantly running higher than 80-90%, and you have the vents totally free to breath, then it's an issue.
