Simple editing of mp3 files?

I have recorded some interviews on a digital recorder and want to do some simple editing, such as, removing some segments and changing the order of some segments. Question is what is a simple way to edit mp3 files on a Mac. Simple is the key word here! Thanks,

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

To remove regions from a recorded audio file and rearrange regions, use GarageBand.

You can drag the audio file into the track area of GarageBand to create a new audio track. And then then split the audio region into segments by cutting it, where you want to make changes. You can delete segments and drag them in the track around to rearrange them. Finally share the finished project to iTunes or to a folder on your disk. See the online help: Edit audio regions

Which version of GarageBand do you have installed? Where did you drag the file to?

With GarageBand 10 you would first launch GarageBand, create a new project from the "File > New" panel. Then drag your mp3 file into the track area of the project window.

For example: Create the project:

User uploaded file

Then drag your MP3 file into the Track area, onto an existing audio track or onto a the empty space.

User uploaded file

Now select the audio region the track and position the cross hair were you want to cut the area, enter ⌘T to split the region.
