iPad won't turn on (4th generation, 16gb WiFi only)

I've had my iPad for a couple of years now and I haven't had any problems until about a week ago when I dropped it. It wasn't a far drop, and it just caused a few small cracks on the screen. It worked like normal after this for about a week, then yesterday it just randomly turned off and won't go back on. It won't even show the apple logo or anything, even after holding both buttons for about 45 seconds or plugging it into the computer. If it had done this immediately after I had dropped it, then I would have just written it off as a completely broken screen. What confuses me is that this took about a week to happen. Is it possible that this is a software problem, and if so, how can I fix it, or is it just broken?

iPad (4th Generation)-OTHER, iOS 8, Not sure which version of iOS 8.

Press the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons and hold them for at least 10 seconds.

If this does not help, take a look these Apple Support articles:

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support

Use iTunes to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support.

As a final step, try the recovery mode. Turn your device off, then plug it to your computer with the home button pressed. Keep the Home button pressed until you see the iTunes logo on the screen of your iPhone. After that on your computer you should see the iTunes window saying your iPhone needs to be restored to factory settings. Click on the restore button.
