Q: What is the latest recommendation about using Aperture with the El Capitan system software?

What is the latest recommendation about using Aperture with the El Capitan system software? Am I safe to upgrade to OS 10.11.x since I am a heavy user of Aperture?

TIA,

Mac Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), Lightroom 2015 1.1, Aperture 3

If you need a feature which Aperture has but Photos doesn't, click here and follow the instructions.

Aperture and iPhoto work fine with El Cap. I use all three photo apps - iPhoto, Aperture, and Photos. They all work fine.

    Neil,

    That was a joke, right?

In my book Photos is about a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10 where 10 is the best.

Thanks for the somewhat subtle, though clear, endorsement for using Aperture with El Capitan.

    I appreciate your help.

Visited Maine last October. What beautiful fall colors!! And, I thought Japan had fall colors to the max!

Thanks for letting me know you are using Aperture in El Capitan with no problem.

You are most welcome! Glad you got to see a "good" fall - conditions were great last year for colors

Aperture 3.6 has the same glitches in El Capitan as on Yosemite.

But mainly minor irritations like upside down thumbnails in the list view, brushes one pixel off when brushing.

I have not experienced any crashes. I can still merge libraries, all adjustments are still working, but I have not tried any plug-ins thoroughly.

Sometimes exporting from Aperture will simply export nothing, but then restarting will help.

The biggest disappointment is, that the Print Products are no longer supported from Aperture since the April 1.
