Q: Raw file support for new Sony camera

I have a new DLSR Sony ILCE-6300 Raw image editing in iPhoto is not supported, also the Preview app will not load any Raw files.

Adobe just updated aps for new cameras, does Apple need to update the app as well?

iMac with Retina 5K display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

The camera is already on Adobes Camera RAW list, https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/using/supported-cameras.html

So the free Adobe DNG converter should be able to convert your RAW files and you can work with DNG while waiting.

The list of currently supported cameras is here: Digital camera RAW formats supported by OS X El Capitan - Apple Support
If your camera is not on the list, you will have to wait for an update.
You could try the free Adobe DNG converter (Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh). If you convet the photos to DNG format, they will still be RAW. The Apple photo applications can usually process DNG files, if they are not in a compressed format.

Thanks, I just discovered the link when you responded. The a6300 is not included yet. I will have to wait for an update. Thanks for your help.

Thanks. Creative cloud had a new a photoshop and light room which includes the latest raw file update for my camera so aim good to go. I use Macphun software and it already was updated for the camera..
