Q: Music loading slow after upgrading computer

I just recently upgraded my computer and transferred all of my music files to this computer. I transferred all of them into the designated iTunes music folder.

However, after pressing play on any song in my library, it takes 3 seconds to load.

How can this issue be fixed?

Thanks,

Justin.

    Hi Jaiced,

I understand you have a new computer and you transferred your music to the iTunes folder on your new computer, and now songs are taking too long to load.  I'm not sure what you mean by "transferred."  Did you copy the entire music library to your new computer, or did you just copy certain files and paste them into the iTunes folder?   The resource below explains how to get your music to a new computer.  The best practice is to copy your iTunes library to an external hard drive (which also makes a backup of your music), then copy that library to your new computer.  Additional content, (purchased downloads, or music from purchased CDs) should be added to the iTunes library using the iTunes software.   This will allow iTunes to run smoother and faster.

    Hi judysings,

Yes, I already followed those same steps mentioned in those links you provided. I copied the entire music library to my new computer.

I just tested out my music on another player (Winamp) and the songs loaded fine. However, in one song it actually froze the computer for a second. Nothing like that since though, but I'm beginning to wonder if the music is somehow corrupted?

    Thanks,

    Justin.

    Hi Jaiced,

Thanks for clarifying.  If the computer froze in a different application, it is possible one or more songs may be corrupted.  Take note of the song(s) that are causing the issue.  Delete them and then redownload (if purchased from the iTunes Store), or reimport from CD to test.  Refer to this resource in addition to the ones above.

    Download your past purchases

    Cheers,
