Q: relink to apple id

My macbook pro was recently in for a warranty repair. As part of this i was asked to unlink my apple id and my account.

fair enough, thought I so duely did so

when coming to pick up yesterday, no one in store was able to help me, and the website http://osxdaily.com/2015/03/24/use-icloud-password-as-mac-login-unlock-os-x/ didnt help much as the "use icloud password" button isnt there for me, anyone know why? or how ot get it back?

TIA

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch,Early 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

I'm not quite certain I understand what you want to do. The iCloud password is not how you "link" your AppleID. The only "account" would be your iCloud account. That can be configured with the iCloud System Preferences.

If you do wish to use your iCloud password for logging in, I don't know how to get that option to show. I tried on mine and it doesn't offer to use the iCloud password. I'm not sure what prevents it.

Ok my bad on explanation/title, but the URL shows what I want to do, but don't know how

It was originally doing it, until I took it in for repair, where I was asked (and due obliged) to set up a separate login, however no one was able to tell me how to do the exact opposite

I googled a bit and didn't find anything explaining what would prevent it. I also cannot use an iCloud password and couldn't find a way to allow it.
