Q: Line Graph Decimal Precision - Running Times Template

I'm new using Numbers but have used spreadsheets since VisiCalc days.

When I look at the line graph shown on the "Running Log" template while using Numbers on my iPad, the Y-axis for "running times" looks correct out of the box.  However, some datapoints on the graph will not round to "seconds" and display 14 decimal point precision as I enter my own data. The datapoints are showing waaay too much information and look bad during a presentation as they overlay surrounding information. For example:

                          9m 29.3s

                      9m 20.875s

9m 4.024999999999998s

                          8m 55.6s

How can I force 2 point precision on a line graph displaying minutes and seconds on the Y-axis?

iPad Air 2 Wi-Fi, iOS 9.3.1

I am not able to replicate that on my device (but admittedly just created the file). Check the format for the cells ion question. Automatic unit should be OFF and precision set to Min Sec. For the chart, the Y Axis should be set to Same As Source. It is possible something got tangled when you added rows to the table. Are you adding the miliseconds as a decimal? That could be the issue.

If that doesn't address the issue, try adding a couple of screen shots. May be a clue that is missing from the description in your post.

Well Mr. Vonnegut, if that's really your name, thanks for your assistance!

Specifically, in iOS, I found 2 automatic settings for cell format and I ensured both were off. I found, what I suspect is, precision - Min Sec. image.png

There doesn't seem to be a "Same as Source" like one finds if using MacOS (oops) I mean OS X.image.png

I'm on the road so I went to an Apple Store display Mac and made the Same as Source change there and it gave me a result I can use. Strange that I had to go to the Apple Store and borrow a display Mac to change that setting *shrugs* but I do thank-you for pointing out there was a setting. That I couldn't see. There is a follow-up issue which I can live with: Same as Source displays micro seconds though the table does not. That's puzzling but ok.

    Thanks again K-T!
