Q: Will apple make a database, or have they quit on the idea?

I loved Apple's database.  It was simple for me, and I grasped it well enough to make so many things for my needs that I made it so intuitive (of my limited intuition).  Now I worked with FileMaker Pro until the upgrades cost more than I can handle. so now I'm back to wishing for a database that handles money, time, invoice, mileage, and schedules again.

What can be recommended?

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4), iWorks, Pages, Numbers

Apple's database was part of AppleWorks which is obsolete. There is a good DBMS program that is part of the freeware suite, Libre Office. It is similar to Access from Microsoft.

Not sure exactly what you do in your databases, but a couple of decent ones you might try are iData Pro  and Ninox. The latter can create relational databases and is purchased via the App Store. iData is a flat file database program. They are both inexpensive.

OS X has a fully relational DBMS built-in called SQLite. In any case some searching should find what you want. Here are a couple of them you can look at:

For Mac and iOS, an app called Tap Forms can also be a good choice for many people.  I understand quite a few former users of Bento migrated over. Available on the respective App Stores.
