Q: Folders no longer coming up in finder search

Sometime in the last few weeks folders stopped coming up in search results on my mac (using finder search).  Does anyone have any idea how this could happen?

MacBook, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)

    Make sure Folders are check marked in the System/Spotlight/Search Results pane:

    System Preferences001.jpg

    and any other item you want in the search results.

    Interesting!  Well yes it is checked and it does actually seem to work with this spotlight.  But what about just Ctrl+F ? IT's so much easier than spotlight. 

     

    What's the difference anyway, and why did folders disappear from my Ctrl-F searches?

    It's so much easier for me to just use the Command(⌘) + Space key combination to bring up the Spotlight search field than go to a folder and use Command + F.  With the Command+F method just select folder in the search item menu:
