My voice over won't plat back!
Help!!
Did it record anything? Can you see waveforms in the VO in the timeline?

I'm not seeing the waves! I'm not sure why; I've recorded plenty of times.
Suggest that you test your microphone. Is it internal or external?

Internal. My friend FaceTimed on my computer and she can hear me fine.
My microphone is picking up my voice, but Final Cut Pro isn't.
Try deleting your event render files (from the File menu). Create a new project and do a test VO. Does it work?\\

Also you can direct a VO to differing Events, check they are ending up in the right place.

No, I don't have the option for the bottom yellow arrow.
The microphone isn't picking my voice. It's incredibly weird. Even with other libraries.
No that didn't work either.

Let's try to rule out the hardware.
Open Notes and turn on Dictation.
Does it transcribe your speech Ok?

It's picking up my volume just fine. It has to be the app.
Agree, your mic seems not to be the issue. Just to double-check that in the Advanced settings, Input is set to System Setting and that if you click on that it shows the additional info, Built-in Microphone).

PPlease give information about your system. It doesn't work is not helpful. What's the computer? What's the mic? How is it connected? What are the system preferences sound input settings? What are you seeing in the application? Post screenshots.
