thanks Meg! nothing in box. I'll need to purchase one. the keyboard is battery powered. do I still need to recharge it?

Was it the keyboard shown at the link I posted? The keyboard does not have replaceable batteries. It has a built in rechargeable battery. Yes, you will need to recharge it periodically. How often depends on usage.

Sally4599,

As was mentioned earlier it depends on which specific model of the keyboard we are talking about. If you check the Specifications page of the link provided earlier it says :

Package Contents

  • iPad Air 2
    • Keyboard cover
    • Documentation
  • iPad Air, iPad mini
    • Keyboard Cover
    • Micro-USB cable for recharging
    • Start up guide

and further down it mentions that the version for the iPad Air 2 has a very long battery life :

Technical Specifications

  • iPad Air 2- Available in Space Grey and Silver colors.
    - Battery life: Up to 2 year battery life
    - Bluetooth® range: up to 30 ft (10 m)
    - Keyboard: Membrane scissor type keys, traditional keyboard
    - Tilting viewing angle: 50-70 degree range
    - Magnetic clip (hinge) works with the magnets in the iPad frame to securely attach the keyboard to it
  • iPad Air- Available in Space Grey and Silver colors.
    - Battery life: Up to 3 months*
    - Bluetooth® range: up to 30 ft (10 m)
    - Keyboard: Membrane scissor type keys, traditional keyboard
    - Tilting viewing angle: 50-70 degree range
    - Magnetic clip (hinge) works with the magnets in the iPad frame to securely attach the keyboard to it
  • iPad mini, iPad mini with Retina display, iPad mini 2, and iPad mini 3- Available in Space Grey and Silver colors
    - Battery life: Up to 3 months*
    - Bluetooth® range: up to 30 ft (10 m)
    - Keyboard: Membrane scissor type keys, traditional keyboard
    - Tilting viewing angle: 50-70 degree range
    - Magnetic clip works with the magnets in the iPad frame to securely attach the keyboard to it
*Based on average use of two hours per day.

So if it's the Air 2 version you won't get a cable but you will need to find one sometime in the next 2 years or so but, if it's any of the other ones you need to go back to the place you purchased it from and request one.

Hope this helps.
