Why isn't mail syncing between iPhone and iMac?

I frequently get emails on my iPhone that are not show up on my Mail on my iMac? Why are they not synced?

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013), OS X Yosemite (10.10.4)

Do you have an IMAP mail account like Gmail or Yahoo? If so they should sync automatically. If you have an IMAP account, when you get an email on your phone, go to your Mac, open a browser like Safari or Chrome, and log on to your email account that way. Is the new email shown on the browser?

I don't use the Mail App on my Mac, IMO web based email works better through browsers. I have a Yahoo account and after 7 hours on the phone with AppleCare they could not get it set up on the Mail App in my Mac. I get my mail through Chrome on my Mac or through Internet Explorer on my Dell W10 computer. I do use the Mail App on my iPhone and iPad and all syncs without issues.

Mail does not sync between devices.

Setting up iCloud does not sync mail between devices.

If your email account is POP, then likely it is being deleted from the server when you download it on the iPhone.

To keep it on the server, do not delete it. Then you will be able to see it on the Mac.
