iMac 7.1 Intel Core 2 Duo OSX 10.6.8.
I used to be able to scan documents on my scanner. Since upgrading to Snow leopard (I think that's when the problem started), the scanner tells me "No Scan Options" when I press the button.
If I place a document on the flatbed and press copy, it will print a copy.
I have deleted all HP software.
Is there a scan utility in Snow Leopard to activate the scanner, or will I need to install HP software again?

You need the correct driver from HP.
I have always used VueScan for scanning. Check whether the version for Snow Leopard is still available.
Have you tried Applications/Image Capture or VueScan as suggested by Klaus?
HP Easy Scan requires OSX 10.9 and 64 bits.
I was trying to solve this a couple weeks ago, and I ran across a discussion that said I needed to delete all the HP software and just use what is in Snow Leopard.
I still have the original HP disc that came with the HP J4580. Should I re-install it, or is there a Snow Leopard fix for this?
